Default Ekco Valve Radio Repair in the North East

Aye aye I'm wondering if anyone can help?

I bought an Ekco Valve radio, it wasn't working too well so I sent it down to Ray Radio repairs, but this poor Radio just didn't make it up the road. So I replaced a cracked valve but no. So the radio now switches on, the speaker hisses, the 2 bulbs now light up since I replaced the valve but it's not picking anything up. So...

Is there anyone in the North East who does valve radio repairs, or can anyone push me in the right direction? Any help as always I'm really grateful for.

Cheers, Glen.

I'm not sure what model Ekco you have, but most early valve radios require an external aerial. A long 20 foot or more piece of wire in the socket at the bace marked A or aerial should enable you to pick some thing on MW. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious here!

Hi Glen,
Yes but not professionally.

I don't know Ray but I'd assume it was restored properly so probably not much wrong.
What model is it and can you share some photo's?
If the experts on here can't get it going remotely and no one better pops up I may be able to have a look at it for you .

John

Awe! Guys That's totally excellent!! Really appreciate that Please please don't be offended if I don't get in touch, I'll grab the nearest and work from there as I'm in Bearpark, so Brian hopefully if he has time I'll annoy him
Really appreciate it. Thank you

No problem at all Glen, I’m even closer but don’t have any time for several weeks anyway.
Let us know how you get on, maybe open a new thread in the radio section?

Best of luck

John

Itís no problem Brian Iím just a hobbyist and spoke up because Iím local, I wasnít expecting other responses. It maybe more about timing, I canít look for a few weeks.
We still donít know what weíre dealing with, more details and pics would be nice Glen, I may see them and run a mile

John

P.S.
Maybe we should all get together and have a go?

John

Hi Gents, perhaps we should have a get together, or perhaps all arrange a group trip to Golbourne (or Spennymoor)
