Trying to date this Roberts radio No j10712 displayed on tuning dial

It's not a fairly early one as the scale has 3rd below 200m, presumably 194m. My earliest Junior s/n 8559 does not have the Third programme at that frequency on the scale. Radio Radio! shows that the move to 194m was in March 1950, so my guess is that your radio s/n 10712 dates from around 1949.

Yes, around 1949-50. The Junior was in production from 1948 to '52, and serial numbers in the Roberts group's records - 20 of them - range from J.6122 to J.17330, suggesting that yours may be from a little before the middle of the production run.
