Brenell Mk 5 and sony reel to reel
These have been unearthed from the house clearance I am assisting with.
1.Brenell Mk 5 Series 3. Weighs a ton. 2. Sony TC 458 good condition. I do not know if either work and am hesitant to power them up especially the valve Brenell. appart from a few small edges of the leather cloth lifting the Brenell is good condition and the Sony is good too. These will both be sold. Can anyone comment on their value please. Thank you |

They are only worth what someone is prepared to pay, put them on eBay then you will get your answer.

Re: Brenell Mk 5 and sony reel to reel
The Brenell Mk.5M Series 3 is the most desireable of the Mk.5s, with its Papst motors and Bogen heads - but its value very much depends on whether the deck, especially heads, are fully working! But yes, they were a very good indeed which is why they can attract serious money = anywhere from £30-£100+.
Could you let me have the serial number please (in the lid) for my Brenell records? Barry |

I've also a Sony TC 458, but there is not left anything of the discription from the voltage selection. Can you make a photo of the voltage selection, so I can use it (and not have to be afraid for burning the recorder)?

Terry,
Check the capstan motor , this is a weak link in an unused Brenell. Colin. |
