Just to say that Philips corporate governance would never allow the Philips name to be directly associated with any other e.g. Philips Cossor.

Wasn't the Cossor television CT1700 introduced in 1960? and the Cossor designed models 950 and 951 in mid 1959. All these sets employed 110 degree CRTs. The sales brochure presented by Dazzelvision show the new Philips designed television set along with older Cossor designed radios. Subsequent Cossor radios all had that Philips look about them.
There's a Cossor CDU150 oscilloscope in the shop which I believe was made in the late sixties or early seventies and it is definitely a Cossor made instrument. Didn't the Cossor electronic instruments division continue as an independent firm until the takeover by Raytheon?

DFWB.

Yes, it was part of A C Cossor Ltd until they were taken over by Raytheon (USA) in the early 1960s.

Further to Jon's (Duke) comment, the demise of the manic Philips cord drives seems to occur about the same time as the Cossor takeover, thankfully.

I don't have a copy of that sales leaflet and would appreciate some Scans to add to my library.

Would you mind if I used your picture of the 579 on my Rogues Gallery.

Even better if I could get a complete picture of the 580 (Stereo Record Player)

Cheers
