It’s difficult to make out which cable you are referring to. However there is a green/yellow with red sleeves in your pictures that looks to me like a modern addition. If it is a single core could it be a grounding wire that had been installed to strap two assemblies to the same (earth) potential, that has now come adrift?

Have you got a TK23 circuit diagram to refer to?

Bill

It's possible that it connects to switch "at1" as designated in the makers schematic, I say this because there should be a connection via a screened lead between switch "st1" and one of the contacts of "at1" according to the said schematic.

In your 3rd photo, switch "st1" is on the "st" switch assembly that's shown in the upper half of that photo and switch "at1" is on the switch assembly shown on the right hand side of that photo, "at1" has two contacts and the said switch assembly consists of switches "at1" and the "tt" switches, the other contact for switch "at1" is connected via a screened lead to switch contact 14 on the record/playback switch which is located on the main printed circuit board...….So far as I can make out.

The makers manual....layout/schematics etc is available from the vintageshifi web site.

Lawrence.
