Default Help needed with WS19 Carrier Set 25.

Hello, ii live in Spain, and ii am restoring a WS19 MK2, years ago iI had a MK3, but it was in very bad condition to be restored.

iI have some questions about my set, if any body can help me, iI will be very grateful

My WS19 was made by Zenith in year 1942, the power supply is from 1945.

The carrier set is a number 25.

questions:

1) Coud anybody tell me more about this carrier set number 25, the vehicles, where it was mounted, etc??

2) I have a very long secure strap, it is original, but too long, perhaps 20 inches more than the necessary to fix the both units. can any body tell me how to install that strap??

3) The T2A transformer is missing, i need one, but iI cannot find it on the web. any clue about this

4) Also the rubber that support the carrier set are broken, any idea where to find them??

Thanks very much

Another question is the canvas pieces that goes under the unit, I have 3 pieces, and I do not know how they are situated, 2 of them are bend at 90 degrees and the other is flat.

There is no enough space in the carrier 25 to situate 4 canvas, so I think the correct position is to situate one in each corner and the flat one under the both units, between the WS19 and the Dynamotor unit. Is that correct ?

Here you are some photos, the set has all its knobs an pieces except same tubes and the T2A transformer. In the photo the knobs and same parts had been taken apart to clean, etc

please, another question is the mounting pieces, the rubber is in very bad condition. I will be grateful to know where to by them or how to repair these

More pics.
Here you can see the strap, it is original, but too long.
Also, you can see the position of the canvas, do not know if this is correct.

Any help will be appreciated
As you can see in the photos, the power supply I think it is for a mk3.

Hi,

Have a look at

http://k4che.com/WS19/WS19Mount/WS19Mount.htm

your set-up must be very similar.

Thanks very much!!
Here you are some photos of my carrier set n25.

As you can see "bubba" cut same part of the base, I think that only 0,5 inches but not sure of what is missing now.

I do to know how the canvas are situated there and why the canvas strap is so long. See pics

Hi,

What is the length of the canvas part of the strap?

It could be for the WS 19 high power configuration where the high power RF amplifier (No 2?) unit sits directly on top of the 19 set. The strap would connect to the slots on the side of the High power unit, sitting on top of the 19 set.

The canvas length is 129 cm 50.7 inches

It is too long for the PSU and WS19 set but iI think it is too small for the high power configuration isn't it?

Hi,

With such a long strap it probably goes completely around the 19 set and the power unit. Mount the power unit on the left; there should be three sets of the "key slots" on the power unit case. Two set on the left & right hand sides as normal and another set should be on the top of the case. Place the "T" shaped end of the strap in the left hand side slots of the power unit case, run the strap down under the carrier, bring the strap up the right hand side of the WS19 and then over the top of the set back towards the top of the power unit. The small mounting bracket should then be fitted into the key hole slots on the top of the power unit. The threaded rod end of the belt should be inserted into the hole in the small bracket and then the knurled nut should be tightened up.

If your belt is long enough to do this then you will also need to find a very short belt that should first be installed between the inside surfaces of the right hand side of the power unit, under the fixed angle iron "cross piece" on the carrier then up to the left hand side of the 19 set, rigidly securing the set and power unit to the carrier frame.

Thanks very much, finally, turning the canvas in the side with no nut of the strap, I got enough length to screw the nut.
(see photo)
The little straps that you say must be between both units, no idea where to find them, I will put an ad here.
Thanks very much!!!!

Any info about the carrier set 25 (vehicle where it was installed) will be welcome

Thanks again!!!!

The identification list for WS-19 MK3, dated 1951 lists the following carriers: no-21 (ZA3102), no-22 (ZA3103), no-23 (ZA10315) and no-25 (ZA10463).

Helas, the identification-list does not tell anything about the use of these carriers.

I came upon an illustration about the use of carrier-set no.25.
I cannot remember the source.

Thanks!!!, my carrier set 25 was with a mk2, in the diagram you kindly post, i read mk3 only....... also, my carrier set has 4 rubber silent blocks to fit in a vehicle, different like the one in the diagram, i do not have either the clamps.
So now i am more confused that when i post the first question.

i hope someone could explain everything carrier set 25 involved

Everything that could be driven at one time seemed to have had radio set fittings that the sets like the 19 could be dropped into. The whole set had to be capable of being picked up in its cradle as one item and re located at short notice. Many of the installations were almost suck it and see, as the actual set could be a 19 or a 62 both did the same job, although the 62 had a smaller footprint.. The big problem was getting the power to the set. The battery's were very heavy and large. I seem to remember the 19 set's Hi power unit being bolted to the top of the case. I know that you could get a belt off one if its earth strap was missing. The earth through the short aerial connector was poor. I'd power the whole set off before I'd touch that aerial system. Those 807's would glow blue when loaded.

Hi

This carrier was also used for the C12 set (the successor to the 19 set). The carrier sits on two mounting plates, there mounting plates are attached, normally to a radio table in the vehicle. Hope the attached picture shows what I mean, it also shows how the PSU and set are strapped in. In my case I have a C12 in a No.25 frame but have had to make the straps as I didn't have them.

The source for this information is "User Handbook for Radio installations in FFR 'B' vehicles" , Army Code 12798. This manual does hot cover the 19 set

Cheers

You may find studying the WS19 parts list helpful. I have a copy here. I think the Carrier No.25 is mentioned on page 25.
