Help with a Yaesu Transceiver
A friend has asked me for help with one these, I don't know the model but it contains a RCA-7360 beam-deflection mixer.
The problem he has is that when warming up the meter needle should move along the scale but dosen't and he can't recieve anything, but if he taps the 7360 everything starts to work which would suggest a faulty valve but he thought it was only used to transmit? does anyone think it still could be a faulty valve and if so their availability, sorry about the lack of info but I don't know anything about these. Re: Help with a Yaesu Transceiver
Hi Mick,
Ok, well, 7360 are not that rare - I might have one here somewhere.... Sounds more like a connection issue to me though. A model number would be helpful! Cheers Sean

Re: Help with a Yaesu Transceiver
Thanks Sean
The model is a FT200, I've told him to check for dryjoints |

Re: Help with a Yaesu Transceiver
Mick,
If you need further help on the FT-200 - try this site: http://foxtango.org/ft250/foxtango%2...on%20Page.html There is a restoration article which may be of use. Regards, Roger G4BZI |

Re: Help with a Yaesu Transceiver
The latest news on this is he checked for dry joints and it now seems to be working except that it is only giving 80watts output when he thinks it should 200 but according to the spec on the link site (thanks Roger) it's 100watts so that's not so bad is it?

Re: Help with a Yaesu Transceiver
The FT200 is a 100W transceiver (there was also a FT200S which was 10W). It uses TV line output valves in the PA, a pair of 2SC6A's. My experience with the FT201 which used the same (and the FT101ZD which uses 6146's) is that you are only likely to get the full output with brand new valves. 80W seems quite normal.

Re: Help with a Yaesu Transceiver
80 Watts is about as good as it gets - Indeed he should feel happy that it works that well!
Sounds like problem solved! Cheers Sean
