Hello, Can anyone please advise on a replacement capacitor. Pictured below it is a 50pf 1000v taken from a Telefunken Jubilate S export. Also does anyone know where I can get a service sheet for this model.

If it's the mains antenna one then personally I would leave it out of circuit but if you were to insist then a 50pF in series with a Y Class perhaps?

Not sure about an export one but supposedly the "Jubilate S" schematic is here if that's any help:

Thanks for your help Lawrence and Tony. Jubilate s was on site you recommended Lawrence but would not download. As for capacitor I am not sure which one it is, but is connected between base of volume switch then to a tag with a fuse on it. Sorry for limited knowledge as I am very new to this and a novice. Ok mechanically but no electrical experience, so just thumbling through at the moment. Pics below of capacitor connections.

Why did you decide to change this capacitor?

I've just tried the link I posted earlier, it downloads ok for me.

Looked at various Jubilate schematics, can't find any with a 50pf capacitor connected according to your description, the only one that connects to the on/off switch I can find is the 50pF that connects between the non-fused side of the on/off switch (the voltage selector side of the switch) and the VHF antenna panel via a red wire so far as I can make out.

I think maybe the fuse tag you identified in the photo as the tag the 50pF was connected to is only connected to a white wire that goes to the mains transformer, can you confirm?

Annotated thumbnail picture ('scuse scrawl) of a scanned copy schematic from the link posted earlier showing the capacitor I was on about, the metal tag that's highlighted can be swung either way to make contact with either of the vhf antenna dipole sockets.

I removed capacitor as it was crumbling on the ends, so thought it best to remove. Right decision I dont know. Regarding wires Lawrence I have added more photos to try and make it clearer, to me more than you I think.

Photo 1 The black wire for capacitor, which also has a red wire which you mentioned connected to the same tag and runs to the antenna panel shown in photo 2. Also the white wire you mentioned which is on the first tag and runs to the mains transformer shown in photo 3. And a yellow wire on tag 3 which is the coiled wire in photo 4. Hope this helps. Got work to do so wont be back online for a few hours.

Is that capacitor enabling the mains lead to act as a VHF antenna?
