Default BVWS Auction - 14th August - Wootton Bassett

Hi All,

We now have two of the three large collections back at the store ready for the Auction on the 14th at Wootton Bassett.

We will be going to collect the other one this weekend coming, by which time I will have been able to lot up and photograph about half of the items for the Auction.

Just a heads up:-
There are a large amount of 1930's decent radios which are in pretty good condition.
There are a good number of "top of the range" Grundig, Siemens and Telefunken sets, some with remote controls and extension speaker.
A large number of Murphy 1930's and 40's sets.
Several quality radiograms and a number of 1940's and 1950's TV's.
Add to that a significant number of 1920's receivers both valve and crystal sets and horns.
There will also be a large amount of valves, mostly new and boxed from a radio shop find.
A number of rare 1920's valves will also be auctioned from a very long standing early valve collector. Plenty of top pips!

More details to follow shortly.

The pictures and a downloadable catalogue will be available around the 8th August.

Best regards,

Mike...

Hi all,

I have just sent 189 pictures up to Paul for inclusion onto the BVWS website and had a quick chat to him on the phone.
He will be making them all available for everyone to see tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay in getting this done, but this last few days have been completely written off for me with a severe bout of IBS which rather made doing anything pretty difficult.

There are many more lots than those shown in the pictures, but I have run out of steam for photographing them. The weather does not help either as everything is done outside.

A full downloadable catalogue will be available from the BVWS website later in the week (probably Thursday).

I look forward to seeing many of you at Wootton Bassett on Sunday,

All the best,

Mike...

Wow! Some quite rare but not particularly old TVs, well ones I haven't seen anyway, except for the Bush and Pam of course, and a few continental radio's.

Hi All,

We have had a good bright day here and so I have managed to get an extra 30 something pictures taken of the Auction lots.

These have been sent up to Paul, who will add them to the BVWS website Thursday or Friday of this week together with the Catalogue which lists all the rest of the lots to be sold on Sunday.

All the best,

Mike...

Interesting selection Mike. Despite my poor eyesight I notice that the Bush Teleflic set [row 15 and second along, an EAC95?] appears to have been converted for use with natural gas!

Hi Dave,

That's a Bush EBS4. It is a big cabinet with a large 10" speaker, but lighter to pick up than you would think.

There's plenty of air inside the cabinet, so this should mix very well with the gas from any political programming...

A good number of the radios in this auction have been restored to working order.
Some of the more exotic sets were tested and used to listen to whilst doing the lotting.
There are a couple that are really amazing in sound quality and I would be very happy to listen to them and nothing else.

I was not taken with the Philips "Reverbeo" when switched into that mode. It seemed too much of an effect. Although when switched out of this mode the Bi-Ampli Sound was very acceptable and of good Quality. Perhaps better than I had expected.

The Motor tuned Ekco PB510 works very well and will be a good purchase.
I could go on, but we will leave that for Sunday.

All the best,

Mike...

There are some really good lots in this sale. Congratulations to the team for coming up with another excellent sale - I, for one, will be there.

I have added the extra 39 photos in a separate group below the others.

I'll add the auction catalogue once Mike sends it to me.

It was a good event. Some equipment went for surprisingly high prices. Thanks to everyone for an enjoyable day out and appreciate everyones efforts that goes into this event. The food was up to its usual high standards.

Hi all,

Was a very good day today, hats off to Mike and the organisers, I bought far too much (again!) a Rigonda Symphony, with four speaker cabinets! ( I did take a pic on my phone first and send it to SWMBO to get approval before bidding though!!) a Philips Bi-Ampli radio and a Mullard high speed valve tester complete with two boxes of cards!!

Thoroughly enjoyed it, oh and mustn't forget to tip my hat for the caterers, top job!!

Cheers
Lee

An interesting day out......

once I got past the '40s Plymouth in the car park, it all became too much- talk about embarassement de richesse. Unfortunately (and probably not surprisingly) three sets I would have liked (the starkly engaging black and silver Loewe-Opta Komet and two different 8 valve portables with FM) soon went beyond my limited budget, so I consoled myself with a slimline Masteradio, a Fenman 1 RM small(ish) radiogram and a Siemens M57 4-speaker monster table set, both with FM but possible SWMBO issues

Yes, probably at the end of the year as we generally do these updates once a year. Though it depends on when Mike has time to collate and send me the information.
