Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
Yes thanks indeed to the organisers.
I don't like driving so was tempted to miss it but am glad that I made the effort. It was actually very easy to get to and parking was adequate. I got what I went for and had a very good excercise in pricing. |

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
Yes - wasn't it; the weather always seems to be kind to us there.
Good to fit a few more faces to names, as well. Got back here at about 4:45, and unloaded the car (as you do!).

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
Hi,
Great event, thanks to everyone involved. It was my first time at this location and it was good to park so close to the hall. I met quite a number of forum members and came away with a HMV suitcase record player from the fifties and a few magazines. I was quite tempted by one or two tv sets but decided not to buy due to space reasons. Thanks again, Des..

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
Thanks from me too for another enjoyable event.
I bought a load of 1930s Wireless World magazines, a horribly wrecked Ekco AD75, a Marconi 224 in nicely untouched condition, an early 1930s TRF woodie which might be a Lissen, and a CAC Austin Super which matches the one I already had - perhaps they might breed? ( Actually they're probably too old to whelp!). Ian Blackbourn |

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
An excellent day. Thanks to all involved. Didn't buy much, but managed to bargain (in French!) with a vendeur du lampes to my advantage.
Also bumped into a number of old friends, and called on another forum member on the way home to collect a superb piece of test equipment. SteveP: hope you got your box of bits and pieces! Regards, Dave |

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
I had a good day too. I was there with two friends who haven't been to one of these events before and who found it really interesting and enjoyable. One of them even spent some money! It made a nice change to attend as a normal guest instead of as staff.
The Eddystone presentation was very interesting too, though the microphone feedback problem became rather annoying. I didn't buy much, but that was mostly due to my current circumstances. I did buy two more of those miniature radios that look like classic valve sets (so I have 5 of them now). I also bought two pairs of PC speakers (Philips and Sony), one of which I hope will be better than my current ones and the other I hope will be better than my housemate's speakers. Food was very good and excellent value, as usual. Weather was just right (if it's too hot the hall gets stuffy). The ice cream van outside was most welcome! |

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
I wish to add my thanks to the organisers for another splendid event. I feel it has really settled into its "new" home and don't miss the NEC at all! The car parking advantages are great.
I went home with two gramophones - an Alba and an HMV table model as well as several records and a small Alba transistor set. My favourite purchase was, just before closing time, a box of over 100 small 78s, which I collect (mainly Eclipse and Broadcast) for a tenner! Already looking forward to next years show. Neil. |

I had a good day too. Nice to meet up with a few people.
And brownie points for having left home with a full car, and returned with an empty one. Tom |

A great day out and good to meet up with some of the forum members.
Didn't take much and didn't leave with much but did manage to find a missing knob for my recently acquired Vidor CN430. Keith |

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
Hello there,
I had a good day as well. I bought 2 tv pattern generators, a variac in a case,an HMV 1807 telly, a humongous hydrometer on a stand, several chiming clocks, a small dual standard sony telly on the bring and buy stall and a 12" round CRT for £5 The food was excellent upstairs and I met a few forum members as well. Thought there was a little too much modern tat on some stalls for my liking but plenty of old television and interesting test gear. Christopher Capener

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
It certainly was a great day out and nice to meet up with a couple more forum members for the first time and some old faces too. As I was already picking some stuff up from the forum courier service, I had to be a bit cagey as to what I bought but still managed a car full
I'd also like to add a big thank you to all those who made the event possible and long may it continue.

Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
Hello,
I was at the NVCF and it was a good day. Three of my 1950s valve sets were collected by a party from Ireland and are now on their way to Dublin, and I collected two early CD players from forum members, a Philips CD204 from NeilF and also a Marantz CD-54 from Igranic. I bought a load of good Roberts and Ekco transistor sets (£25) including a decent RT7, a good Murphy AM/FM valve radio (£8) and a very nice red 1961 Dansette RT222 still in its original box (£30). At last I've got some radios to restore, I'd actually run out, hence my recent acquisition of several early CD players. I met loads of forum members as well, folk it seems have no problem recognising me I also had a long chat with the German collector selling those huge 1950s German valve sets, weren't they just fabulous ! Re: NVCF - Thanks for a great event
Yes, thanks indeed for great event. Managed to get a few bits and pieces, some juicy 807's and, at last, a 6.5v dial lamp to replace the one I accidentally crushed when fixing my Pye Fenman 2. Also met some of the VMARS members.
