Default Hitachi SDT400

I have an Hitachi SDT400, the problem is that the tone arm is ejecting before the record ends, I would say that it is at least 2cm too soon. Does anybody know how to adjust the tone arm to solve the problem

regards

Rob

Default Re: Hitachi sdt400

One possibility is dried grease, particularly around the cam gear and Trip Pawl assembly. These components are located under the platter, which is easily removed. IIRC it simply pulls off, having first removed the drive belt from around the motor pulley. The Cam Gear is the large white gearwheel to the right of the center spindle, whilst the Trip Pawl is two metal levers attached to this gear. These levers must be free of grease and pivot freely. There are 'sticky' threads about the SDT400, which can be found by typing 'Hitachi SDT400' into the Google search box at the top of the page. At least one thread has an illustration of the components concerned, which should help you find the answer to the problem you describe. (Edit) Do not attempt any adjustments to the tone arm until the above points have been checked.
