Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
New addition to the fisher collection
FVH-P10E This is as far away from any of the other fisher stuff as is possible, nothing is similar in any way except the name on the front. It lacks the feel of quality and doesn't sound particularly clever in its mechanical operation. I'm guessing this is near the tail end of their production and probably what led to the fisher brand ceasing. The only plus for being an old machine is the scart socket. https://youtu.be/sVCTnT3deVg Last edited by Vauxfan2k; 22nd Oct 2016 at 4:56 pm. |

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
That looks like a copy of a Panasonic NV-G21 or similar!
Probably made by Orion. I have something similar branded Emerson.

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
Made in West Germany, so it might even be a real Panasonic. I'm not sure whether Sanyo (Fisher) had a factory in Germany.
A sharp picture of the type label on the back will almost certainly reveal the manufacturer (by looking at the layout, code number, serial number). Last edited by Maarten; 23rd Oct 2016 at 2:47 am. |

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
They must have had an assembly plant in west Germany aswell as Japan as I have a couple of 7 and 9 series machines that were made there. The fvhP716 and fvh-p722k were both made there.

"..and next on Channel Four, The Hoarder Next Door.."
Nice collection! At first glance I thought that Mitsubishi in the first photo (post #66) was a Panasonic! Honestly? I don't see the appeal of the Fisher models at all, but I guess they must have some sentimental value to you so I can relate to that.

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
The fisher stuff is purely because my old boy was a fisher dealer in the late 80's, grew up watching all the videos from our video rental store on these machines. The quality of the picture on them is excellent and puts some of the newer top end models to the test, idlers and belts are their only flaw.

Ah that makes sense! I guess we all have an attachment to to the technology we grew up with. Probably everyone on this forum can attest to that!

I have two Fisher Betamax machines. A 1980 VBS 9000 (Sanyo VTC 5600P) and a 1981 portable VBR 330 (Sanyo VPR-5800) with the original camera!

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
Lovely collection! Your house looks like one of those warehouses which advertised in the back of Television magazine which offered "off the pile" ex-rental machines.
BTW, if you'd like a brace of 1983 vintage Hitachi VT-11Es, FOC, drop me a PM please. N. P.S. I read in The Setmakers book that NEC in the UK gave up production of VHS videos to concentrate on making computer monitors (e.g. the well-known Syncmaster range). I certainly remember more of the latter than the former. |

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
Looks like my spare room that. Though theres a load of tube cameras as well in mine. Nice collection though. The HR7700/3v23 is one i'd certainly like to get my hands on. Have you had a go of any of the portable units that went with cameras like the HR2200/3v24?

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
Just managed to get the Panasonic machines together for a pic,
The bottom NV-FS100 needs a psu so is in limbo for spares or repair just now, The other NV-FS100 is in full working order and extremely clean. The 2 NV-F75's are in full working order (the top one had the head vibration but has sorted itself after use) NV-FS90 is like new, utterly spotless, very similar machine to the F75 but with svhs and more editing options. The J35 and L25 are fully working. Actually have 2 L25's now but no sense in taking a pic of the 2 of them! Quite fancy an F65 to go with these. Cheers |

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
Update:
Have sourced the long awaited and searched for 3v36, on its way. And an update on my g deck fetish. Just waiting to see if I can get the psu sorted for the bottom fs100, otherwise all machines are now serviced and working. Think my fave svhs decks are the fs200, fs100, and fs90 in that order. Fave vhs decks are f65, f70 and f75 in order. |

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
Ferguson 3V36 arrived today Along with a 3v35. Makes 3x 3v35's now. Ooops
Taken a long time to find one. It's the same as the 3V35 with a facelift , stereo sound and Dolby noise reduction. Also has the added headphone socket. This model is my favourite of the fergusons next to the 3v30. Will give it a full service inc belts, head clean and grease the tape mechanism. |

Nice finds! Is this the first 3V36 you got or did you already have one?

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
I have had 2 in the past, one about 20 years ago which I sold to a friend. Then about 12 years ago I found an immaculate one in a charity shop that worked perfectly. Unfortunately it got thrown out by the ex wife when we split. So 3rd time lucky with this one. (I hope)

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
Hi
I liked the Ferguson 3V35. It was a very well made machine and excellent for servicing. They were extremely reliable electrically and most faults were put right with a mechanical service ie belts, idlers and clutches. The upper drum was very easy to replace and was reasonably priced. The only weak point on the 3V35/6/8 machines was the capstan motor which often became very noisy. I replaced quite a few of these and again it was a very quick operation. The deck was clearly designed for easy servicing like it's 3V29 predecessor. I have a 3V38 which I will get around to servicing one day. Regards Symon. |

Re: Ferguson Videostar and Fisher Studio Standard collector
That's both machines working. The video board on the 3v36 has a bad cap/s which was making it display in and white. Swapped out the board from the 35 and it's working great now. The 35 had been canibalised a bit, motor for the tape mech was missing, no belts and the playback idler pulley was knackered. Thankfully I have a lot of spares so got the machine put back together and after a service is playing great in black and white. I have a donor machine in storage with siezed head drum, so will swap the board tomorrow.
Happy with my evenings tinkering. |
