And mine! I can already see enough for a good read... LW pantry transmitter... AGM minutes... retrotech photos... just the sort of thing for a wet summer evening!

Another excellent Bulletin with a good range of articles to enjoy. Thanks to all concerned.
I notice the autumn Biggleswade meeting advert. (inside front cover) details a "swapmeet", and not "swapmeet and auction" although the auction payments line is still mentioned. Has the autumn auction been cancelled?

I’m not 100% certain but I think that is the case.
The website also just says “swapmeet” for all Biggleswade events and I do vaguely recall being asked to amend it that way. https://www.bvws.org.uk/events/diary.php |

The last couple of Biggleswade meetings I have attended have had no auction. Instead the BVWS have a large table with items for sale. I think there was an announcement stating that this was going to be the case at Biggleswade in future.
Rich.

Mike offered to run a large BWWS table instead at both Biggleswade events, which which has proved very popular. Running a BVWS table is far less time-consuming for Mike, and also helps clear some of the large quantity of items which accumulate in the BVWS stores, waiting for space in an auction. Removing the auction also significantly extends the main buying and selling period at the event. So the BVWS will have two physical auctions each year (at Royal Wootton Bassett), and hopefully two online auctions as well. In addition, BVWS has a large sales table at Audiojumble each March (now at K2 in Crawley), courtesy of the organisers. I realise that for some, the auction was a highlight at Harpenden. It's a shame to see the auction go, but we do secure our new online auctions and get a new large BVWS selling table stocked with bargains that must go! -Jeremy

My BVWS Bulletin goes to my northern address so there may be a delay if I'm on the south coast but this gives me something to look forward to on top of the publication date. The Summer edition arrived while I was back in Ramsbottom this time recently and it's of extremely high quality as usual
The photos of events [that I often can't get to] are a useful window into the occassion and the wide angle centre fold was particularly impressive!Dave W |
