R5000 No Power
Hi
My Kenwood R5000 recently stopped working and I suspect it may be the Power Supply Board (it is totally Dead). I wondered if anyone could help or advise?. (It was on 230v at the time) Regards John G1LCC |

Re: R5000 No Power
Hello John
time to get the test meter out, I think. Do you have the service manual? http://www.iw2nmx.it/Kenwood%20-%20T...e%20Manual.pdf I've only had mine a few weeks, but not had that particular fault. Regards Pete |

Re: R5000 No Power
If it is totally dead check the thermal fuse if fitted on the mains transformer that or its self could be open. Check even the mains switch also power supply caps for high ESR.
Not forgetting but unlikely dry joints on the panel. Start at the mains input and carefully work through.

Re: R5000 No Power
The first thing to do is unplug the set, switch it on and measure the resistance between the live and neutral pins of the mains plug. That will tell you whether the primary circuit is intact.
