Looking through my 8MHz crystals this evening, I found a few marked USB, LSB, and CW, conveniently marked also with their frequencies:
USB 8989 LSB 8986 CW 8988.3 If these are for Carrier Insertion this would imply an IF of 8987.5kHz with a b/w of about 2kHz, but maybe they are part of a crystal mixer synth system from an early 23-channel CB rig. Any ideas how they were used?

That was certainly an IF range I recall being used in some 70s and 80s HF transceivers, so I guess you're right in thinking that they are USB/LSB/CW crystals.
