Default BVWS Bulletin Autumn 2023

Mine arrived this morning so they should all be arriving now or over the next few days.

Yes, even in the wilds of Cumbria I was able to peruse it over breakfast this morning.

I'm especially looking forward to reading Graham Gosling's article about the KB CVC1, following his excellent award winning article about the Philips G6 last year.

Also noted on page 57 that Alex has achieved the miracle of a photo of me that doesn't look awful!

Top marks to the Post Office, mine arrived this morning as well. Usually I’m one of the last to receive it. Another good read!

The latest BVWS Bulletin stands out, even though the high quality of production and content is always very much a given! It's a shame that the previous Retrotech venue has had to be left behind but the Committe has shown astute management and financial skill, in producing a significant income stream that will benefit everyone This was clearly explained in the editorial as well. Sadly there is quite a history of well intentioned enthusiuast groups or more commercial organisations that have foundered due to more enthusiasm than attention to future planning and the "bottom line"! I doubt that the BVWS or the Museum will ever suffer that sort of fate and they are now both a National Resource, in my view.

Paul Stenning was happy with his photo when being acknowledged for his sterling service to the Society but the invaluable Archive he has now built up on his website is also another national asset in my opinion. As there is now such a renewed interest in all forms of vintage technology [within a Digital/AI brave new world] it will turn out to be of great historical interest forever.

Some time ago I "rescued" a colour console Kolster Brand Television in quite a nice condition but beyond my experience or usual interest. I wondered why it had turned up in Ore [Hastings] as I realised that the KB products were very "high end" at the time. However, it was a pleasant surprise to discover [in Graham Gosling's second article] that manufacturing had moved to the Ponswood Industrial Estate, in nearby St Leonards during 1960. Perhaps it's one he hasn't got

As someone who's not (so far) met either of the two people in that photo and only recently joined the BVWS, I haven't a clue which one is Paul!

I'm a member of both the Royal Photographic Society and the Nikon Owners Group. Both organisations make a very big thing of the production values of their quarterly magazines. The BVWS Bulletin is right up there with the best of them in quality and is better in clarity.

Someone is doing an excellent job.
