Default Retro back in the day service dept locations

Whilst the Telebank service dept up in Cwmdu was nice and level, the service dept for the Swansea Granada TV Rentals in Orchard Street helps explain my back problems:

It was above the shop.

Up a staircase with a right angle bend halfway up.

The sheer joy of manhandling one of those ?Decca? ?Dynatron? 26" wooden cabinet monstrosities up that lives with me even yet.

Said monstrosities always had the feet removed so there was very little to grab hold of during the two man lift.

I was reminded of this by the photo in another thread.

In many ways it was a relief to move to 3M in Gorseinon where video tape was manufactured.

It had goods lifts to shift heavy stuff between floors.

I can sympathise on this one, I worked at DER in Wembley.
Stock TV`s and VCR were kept in in a secure room on the third floor ! No lift of course, 26" 9600`s in boxes and all the rest had to be humped up 3 flights of narrow stairs.
As for 26" sets with Queen Anne cabinets and doors, these were always rented by people living on top floor, always with out fail

PS. Not to many Dynatron`s at Telebank I guess
Life is not Hollywood, life is Cricklewood.

I worked out of the Hereford Granada TV Rentals in the 1970's. The service area was upstairs but we did have a stair lift. I thought that I may need one of these in my latter years. Mind you, we were expected to carry (mostly) Salora TV's up loadsa stairs in flats. God they were heavy!
