I'll hopefully be on the B&B as usual so anyone who just has a couple of things to get rid of can put them on the B&B for 10% of sale price going to BVWS and Museum funds.

Cheers

Hi All,

Not long now to the Summer BVWS event at Royal Wootton Bassett on July the 2nd.

If you want to book a table then use this link:

https://www.bvws.org.uk/download/RWB_July_2023.pdf

Tables are going fast now so don't delay.

The auction should have approx. 300 lots this time.
I am busy photographing and lotting up ready for the big van loading session next week.

All the usual hot and cold food and drinks will be available from the kitchen.

If anyone has "quality" items they would like to enter into the auction, then get in touch NOW! As We probably won't want to add anymore on the day.

Auction pictures and catalogue will be available on the BVWS website in about a week.

A good selection of everything, test equipment, gramophones, phonographs, radios, crystal sets, horn speakers, books, TV's, valve testers and LOTS and LOTS of VALVES are included.

Auction purchases can be paid for by cash (preferred) or card.

See BVWS website for further details.

See you all there.

Mike...

Hi All,

The Auction catalogue and pictures for the BVWS website have now been sent off to Paul.
He will make them available when he has time.

There are 300 lots in the auction and we will NOT be accepting any additional items on the day.

The Bring & Buy stall will be operational until the auction start time (12:30pm) and anything you wish to sell can be offered there.

This event marks the 30th anniversary of the BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett meeting.
I cannot believe how fast the time has gone! I wonder if we will make 40?

See you all there. It will be a cracking day out!

Mike...

This event is for BVWS members only, however we also welcome guests who are considering becoming members, so you can see what it's like. You can join on the day if you wish (card payments accepted).

Only BVWS members can bid in auctions.

Doors open at 9:30am. Stallholder entry from 9:00am. Auction starts at approx 12:30pm.

Wootton Bassett Memorial Hall, Royal Wootton Bassett, Swindon, Wiltshire SN4 8EN

Although the BVWS accept card payments (for membership and auction), most stallholders and the bring-and-buy stall will be cash only, so please bring plenty of cash. The closest cash machine is now at Sainsbury's in Borough Fields Shopping Centre (about 5 minutes walk from the hall).

I am sadly working this weekend and unable to attend.

I am a BVWS member.

Is there any way at all of remote bidding? If not will try to find someone who can bid on my behalf.

Many thanks, Kneale

There is no remote bidding option, however you can leave a commission bid and Mike will bid up to that amount on your behalf.

Contact Mike Barker (murphymad) no later than Friday afternoon if you want to arrange that.

If you are successful, Mike will contact you to arrange payment and collection of the item(s) from Devizes.

This is generally more appropriate for higher value items. For low value items it's probably easier to get a friend who is a member and attending to bid and if successful pay on your behalf.

You can join on the day and take part in the auction. It would be best to join earlier in the day (before 11am) to allow time for someone to add you to the database before the auction.

You could join online in advance if you wish, and include a note (or email the membership secretary afterwards) saying you will be at RWB, would like to take part in the auction, and can collect your new members pack there. If you join online do it soon to allow time for the membership secretary to process it, and have a copy of the confirmation email available on the day.

As it’s only a few days away though I think joining on the day is the better option if you will be there fairly early.

I'll be there tomorrow - heck, I might even make it back home...
(After NVCF my alternator packed up and I had to be ferried back up North by breakdown - lets just say it took a while - twas a long day)

All things being well, it'll be good to meet up with friendly faces again, swing the radio valve, and swap stories...

I have a few things for the Bring & Buy, a precision Avometer, and a couple of Marconi 1920's speakers - so if they are your thing, make a B-line...

I'll try to be good, and not go overboard buying new-to-me gear, but we all know how that plan goes...

See you there,
Paul

I'm looking forward to this tomorrow (although maybe not looking forward to auction portering!).

The forecast looks ideal - dry all day and up to around 19C so not too hot in the hall. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather...ate=2023-07-02

I'll be bringing the PC I'm selling for the bring-and-buy stall, and possibly also a box of random PC parts.

As always I'm not planning on buying anything but I say that every time and always end up buying something!

I enjoyed today, the portering went really well, I normally sigh at the beginning of a large auction as I know how the fatigue sets in and how the stamina wains! A special thanks is called for Arthur who was "young blood" on the portering team today who pretty much single handed identified the lots and sorted them all into order for the rest of the team ready to display as they were called, he did a fantastic job! I hope he enjoyed the experience and is thirsty for more!!

I also had a stall and noticed that business was way down compared to December, I hope just a glitch of some sort and not a sign of things to come as I really enjoy this event and location.

Two items followed me home, a very nice Perdio Portarama which I bought in the auction and also a Philips K70 Hybrid colour telly which isn't too dissimilar from the monstrous G6, this was a pre-arranged collection which I'm very much looking forward to working on over the winter months.

All the best.

I managed to get to RWB yesterday, first visit since lockdown etc. It seemed really quiet but could be my poor memory ! Any impressions of how it compared to previous occasions ?

Sadly you were not wrong the numbers seemed to be about half of the most recent event last December. Sales were noticeably down on the B&B and the stall holders I spoke to.

Prices were rock bottom in many cases.

There were competent, complete 40's and 50's sets available for £2 and under

Cheers
