Tours of the recently opened Pye Exhibition at Cambridge Museum of Technology at 2:00pm tomorrow (Sun 9th Feb), according to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Note. I have obtained a number of Cecil's radios and am currently setting up a museum type display in the Inverness Emergency Bunker. This Bunker is a historic listed building and was used in WW2 as a filter room to process radar signals.

Radios did not play a large part in the filter room work - most communications were over land-lines (at least from radar masts to the filter room). None the less the units make a nice talking point during tours of the building.

In normal times many of the exhibits are actually working, in pleasant contrast to many other museums these days.

Reading Museum has a large display of the first 1971 Reading festival, not too off the forum, lots of microphones and amplifiers. Went there today by train, a good exhibit. I was 11 then!

This morning I went to the Man Carrying Centrifuge in Farnborough https://farnboroughcentrifuge.org.uk/ , a booked tour that took 2 1/2 hours, it flew by. I do admit getting quite soggy riding the motorcycle there and back, well worth it.

I can confirm that the Baird colour is still there! (and probably will be forever - they tell me that once something comes in it probably will never come out, and they are trying to find room to expand).

I live 5 minutes walk away around the corner and have donated a few things. I am trying to convince them to let me get a few sets going so they can be demonstrated, but no luck so far!

I was able to visit and attend a presentation yesterday with the Cambridge Wireless Group on the History of Pye

Well worth it, and for me being local and ex-Pye, long overdue

There is currently a special exhibition on loan related to 100 years of the BBC as well.

One attendee gave a plug for BVWS

Free parking in the nearby Tesco for 3 hours

Check for the normal opening which I think is Sat/Sun, link below

I've just visited the Beeb 100 exhibition that Paul mentioned. Fairly small, but very well done. Hardware highlights include an Ekco SH25, McMichael Motor-tuned Nine, McMichael Rotorbar set, 3 early sets including a Marconi V2, and a Defiant telly. Jerry
