Default Bush TR82 loudspeaker gasket.

I've just started my first TR82 restoration. I've successfully removed the dial intact using the "handkerchief (clean)" method, and upon removing the chassis I've got this. The loudspeaker felt gasket is partly padded out to the correct level with a piece of hardboard (or similar) and there is a lot of evidence of scraping and surface preparation around it. Is this normal? The set shows no other evidence of being "got at".

Yes, quite normal, I have restored a number of these and they all have this feature - the surface is 'roughed up' to prepare it for the glue for the hardboard.

Cheers,
Andy

Thanks. It looks like an afterthought. Maybe someone messed up when they signed off the mould tool and they couldn't afford to rework it.
