Default Philips 462 radio data

Hi. I have an unusual version of the Philips 462 valve radio, except that it was made for ac/dc working. Does anyone have data for this particular model ? I can not see any mention for model 462U in any lists of radios.
Regards
Mike

Mike, this sounds intriguing !
Any chance of a picture ?
BTW, what does the chassis plate say ?

it COULD be a rebuild, especially if the chassis looks the same.
I recently had a Mullard MAS7 which was devoid of the mains tranny, sported a dropper resisitor and a completely different set of valves.
Could Philips have made a few "one offs" for people in the trade wanting sets, to get around wartime shortages ??

Andy

1938 apparently.

Hi All. The 462 radio that I have is the one where the dial glass (removable) fits on the top of the set. I wonder if you are right, Andy, that it could have been a one off from Philips ?
As far as I remember, the plate on the chassis is mentioned as model 462.
The 462U shown in the photo looks more like model 727A.
Regards
Mike

Hello Mike,

Is the Philips 462 set you've got there the same as this one?

Hi Robert. It is the same radio, but there is no mains tx, only a dropper/ballast resistor.

the design is of the thirties [art deco] good job finding this , best regards maitiu.
