Sangamo edge panel meter
Hi
I have a Sangamo edge panel meter and as you can see from the picture that I have taken the dial it is pretty disgusting, it has flaked very badly and just looking at it makes it flake even more. I think the chances of getting another dial is just about zero but I an wondering if anyone would have a steady enough hand to repaint it or any other ideas, I would be open for anything, the dial is or was marked in volts on the top and in milliamps on the bottom Regards Bill |

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
Hi Bill just a thought if you could re-create the scale using a simple drawing package you could print it onto a stick label.
If you know where to borrow a Mylar label printer that might be ideal Many manufacturers have these to print such things as PCB bar codes and now QR codes Cheers Mike T

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
Hi Mike
I mentioned my problem to my son and he has suggested printing a scale, so I wait with baited breath. If anyone has any other suggestions, I look forward to them. Regards Bill |

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
85 degree deflection scale, I can probably scale one up in the purchased version of Meter by Tonnesoft. Galva is also another option but it is very difficult to use.

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
For those who may make up a new scale for you.
What are the exact scale dimensions please? Scale overall lineal length, gradations lineal length (ie 0 to 400), height, and estimate of the radius of curvature? Millimeters may be more convenient here. What is the original equipment type and model, so we may be able to see the original scale? How is the scale attached to the movement body? Thanks |

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
Hi everyone
Thank you for your replies to my problem. Before we get to technical on this, I must say that the meter is out of a home made power supply, not by me I must add but it certainly has possibilities in my eyes. The metal backing that the scale is or was printed on is 2.5" long the the actual scale is approx. 2.25 long, the height of the metal backing is .75" and the graduations and figures occupy approx. half the height, but as the whole area can be seen the graduations and figures could occupy the whole scale, the voltage scale goes from 0-600v and the current goes from 0-150ma. Any further info or ideas would be gratefully received. Bill |

Hi Matthew
What do you mean by "85 degree deflection scale, I can probably scale one up in the purchased version of Meter by Tonnesoft." |

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
Hi Matthew
Right, I now know what Tonnesoft is. Until 5 minutes ago I had never heard of it, having a very quick glance at it I could not see a edge configuration, is this a program that you have used frequently, are there many templates within the program that can be adapted, It's half past midnight here so I am going to go to bed, I am quite busy over the weekend but will try to look at the program over Sat and Sun. I see that the Meterbasic part of the program is free but the Meter part of the program has to be paid for, what extra do you get with the purchase of the program. Regards Bill |

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
A lot of things. Extra scales, highlight configuration, more options for text/colours/fonts on single and multiple scales, adding graphics (pictures) to the scale etc.

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
Hi Bill,
Here's a first attempt at a copy, with a few variations (created using AutoCad):- Meter Scale.pdf If you think it might be good enough, print it with no scaling and it should come out 2.5" across. If the sizes or details need tweaking let me know. Cheers, Barry |

Re: Sangamo edge panel meter
Hi Barry
WOW, I would use any one of these, the annoying thing is, only just about 15 minutes earlier I have put on the first coat of paint, tomorrow morning when the paint has dried I will eye up the drawings to the scale. I will print the scale onto photo paper as that is thicker and shiny, I know my son has some aircraft quality double sided tape that sticks like the dickens, I will be back in touch tomorrow. Once again UK Vintage Radio has come to the rescue. Many thanks Barry and to other members who also made suggestions. Regards Bill |
