Excellent repair! Well done.

What paint did you use for the silver surround?

A very fine job done indeed, the silver is a very good match, this surround is often found in a poor state on this model.

Hello and welcome.

Wow! In every respect.

The Bakelite is easy enough to glue with Araldite or even Superglue, but you've disguised the cracks really well, the paint match is superb, and you seem to have solved the shrunken gold trim problem. Do tell us more, please!

The brass has polished-up really well too.

Is your Perspex tuning knob in good condition, or has it gone a bit cloudy?

Nick

Hi and thank you Nickthedentist.
To glue the bakelite , I used a cyanoacrylate glue with spray activator for instant dry, but my secret is that inside the case I used a two-component repair kit applied with a brush and reinforced with fiberglass cloth.
Indeed the shrunken gold trim is a big problem but I found a solution.I glued it in one middle point, followed by low and constant heat to be able to model it around and finished by glue step by step.
My tuning knob was cloudy but I fixed this problem by polishing with three diferent paste, with different abrasion level.
This is another example....

That too is amazing. This style of radio looks terribly tired after 60 or so years, but you've managed to make it look like new.

Well done!
