I've read that Aiken article before David, it says more or less the same as most other articles I've read, given the impedances involved I would have thought it wouldn't make too much difference which way round the capacitor is connected in your average radio as a good chunk of any hum voltage on the outer plate is going to make it to the inner plate, as that's what capacitors do,
