This was a skip find. I rescued it thinking it was a record player, but the weight told me otherwise. Tape recorders are not an area of interest to me so I'm offering this FOC on here.
I did do a few functionality tests on it and from what I remember all mechanical functions were OK, but the deck probably needs degreasing and relubing. Electrically playback was a bit distorted and the machine wouldn't record. I think I traced that to a possible problem with the bias oscillator, but don't clearly remember. I was working without a circuit diagram at the time, but one is available here:- https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=194975 The main problem with this machine is that the retaining bosses have snapped off the head cover and the speed control knob has a similar problem. As you can see from the pictures I have the bits and Super Glue might do the trick. The recorder has a mains lead and mains plug, but no microphone. Collection from Ipswich or Forum Courier Service. I am prepared to post or courier at cost, but it may take me a while to find suitable packing to double box it. Names in a hat to be drawn one week today if more than one person is interested.

No interest.
I'll burn the case on my open fire, remove the valves for possible future use and scrap everything else. I have no need for more speakers and transformers.

A shame, but you've tried your best.
I'd hang on to the speaker if you can bear to. They're not as plentiful as they once were. And snip out the "mustards", they'll be worth something to the guitar amp brigade, surely. |

Agreed - the Collaro deck is quite nice and might sell better on its own.

The mains transformer may be useful to somebody building a valve based pantry transmitter. They are normally more compact than those found in scrap 4+R radios.
