Default Personal Problems

Hello.
Without going into details I am afraid that I will be away for quite some time, perhaps over 24 months or even for good, which at this point I am not able to know.
Due to the situation I wont be around at all.
I think it best if my account is closed down.
May I thank everyone who has read my contributions and to this very informative forum, I wish you all well.
I will be away from tomorrow.
Thank you.

There is no need to close your account. There's no requirement for you to post, or even to log in. However, the mods will change your status to "No longer a member" if that's what you want. Please confirm that you want us to do this.

Good luck with whatever difficulties you're having to deal with.

Hello and thank you.
Probably the best as I have no idea what is likely to pan out.
The only thing I can say is it is health related.
Thank you again.

Hello Mike.
One of the issues is I'll not be at home. The health problem is serious enough that long term caring is required and it obviates any possibility of hobbies etc. I really didn't wish to explain as it is a very stressful and worrying time. I also don't want friends and family having to follow on after me if I'm not there to sort out loose ends.
Thank you.

You don't need to comment further if that's what you want. I'll update your status in a few days if we don't hear from you.

I'm sure the other mods will join me in offering sincere best wishes. I hope things aren't as bad as you fear.

Hi

I agree with the above comments. I myself have suffered from a degree of depression after losing my father under difficult circumstances and find that contributing to the UKVRR Forum is a pleasant distraction from the pressures of modern day life.

Regards
Symon.

I am too sorry to hear about this and I think there are many of us who have been through various health issues.

Hoping that all goes well for you in the future.

You've nothing to lose by leaving this channel open Cassidy. It's full of people who are not directly connected so it might be a resource. It's never possible to plan for everything so don't isolate yourself-not a good idea. You can always change your mind but the future is never that predictable. Exceptions often make cases!

Simple idea, which I'm thinking of doing is to add a paper will to you'r PC, so that some relative can undertake your last wishes and inform other posters of your passing. Then add a link in the paper to a file on your PC. That way all bases are covered. Many's the time I've had problems growing things, and thought "I'll ask/phone dad or dad in law". But there's no dialing code for calls to the here after. So make provision for those down here to pass the message . And then, JUST get on and enjoy the fw years left.

If you can still use a computer just stay on line.
If you can no longer work at a bench that does not matter.
Do stay in touch.

I haven't done any bench work for years, due to work and other things in life taking priority. However that doesn't matter, I still enjoy reading about other people's repairs and contributing suggestions from time to time. It's a great way of keeping involved with something that interests me.

There is no requirement to actually be doing any repairs or restorations, or even to own any vintage equipment, to be a member here. Just being interested is enough. There is also no requirement to post, though you are always welcome to do so if you have something to contribute or ask.

If you can get online you may find reading posts in this forum to be a relief and escape from other things that are going on in your live. Also as there are lots of different discussions you may find the bite-sized aspect easier to focus on and fit in around other things.

Even if you are just reading and not posting, keeping an active account allows the forum system to show which threads and posts you haven't read, and allows you to subscribe to threads you are following etc.

I hope that whatever treatment is required for the health issue is successful, and that the process is as stress-free as possible.

Hello.
Thank you all for the nice words and encouragement.
In retrospect I will keep the account running certainly in the meantime.
Once I have further news either way I shall post it up.
