Wiring diagrams aid (hopefully) for novice.
Hello,
I'm trying to get to grips with the theory of radio receivers but I am struggling a bit re interpreting Circuit Diagrams. Does anyone know where I can access/acquire both a Circuit Diagram and a Wiring Diagram for the same receiver, ideally a simple (!) superhet ? Thanks. |

Up top in red you will get data for a plethora of radios. You obtain data for one set only if you wish.
Have you tried Wikipedia? |

I think perhaps markdad1 wants to compare a circuit diagram with the way a radio is actually wired. The component layout diagram in a service sheet doesn't generally show the actual wiring routes and commoning points.
I'd have thought the best thing to do would be to buy a simple superhet and compare it with the service sheet, accounting for each wire on each tag,

A Heathkit manual may be useful contained layout and circuit diagrams - can't remember where to get them online (free), but I remember building the Oxford transistor and one of the FM Tuners (valve). I'll have a go at finding the link if you want.

The best way to reconcile a circuit diagram with a wiring diagram is to build a good kit - something like a simple TRF or audio amplifier.

The attached manual from the Heathkit site might help, it's fairly comprehensive and also explains a lot of general stuff.
Otherwise, some of the Philips manufacturer's manuals have component location and wiring shown as well as circuits. This one: http://www.service-data.com/product....70/5742/m14570 available from the VRSD site looks as comprehensive as any

If getting to grips with circuits and layouts for the first time you might want to consider something a little easier than a superhet receiver. I would suggest having a look at the Mullard 3-3 amplifier here.
It shows quite clearly the layout, circuit and method of construction. Vic |
