Default Pailton Radio Station for sale

Close to where I live, Pilton radio station has been up for sale for a while, they have knocked £100k off the price, and now sadly have planning permisson for 10x homes.

Strange place to build a mini housing estate, away from all local villages, in the middle of the fields, lets hope no builders have a go at it. Would be a shame to lose another local landmark after the historic Rugby masts were felled.

Its a big site with two rado masts, several garages, workshops and offices. Could make a really cool 'maker space' or small engineering training centre.

It was used by NATS in conjunction with air traffic contol.

The masts would make for an awesome HAM radio repeater station!

Default Re: Pailton Radio Station for sale

I take your point about the Masts Scott but if retained they have to be maintained by someone The thread started by Jhockridge on 17/6/23 "Last Summer of Test Match Special" LW then morphs into "Closure of Radio 4 on Long Wave" at p43*. See Russell's comments at p77 about the B T Station at Rugby that was repurposed as a housing estate with the school, roads and services thought out first. My comments are at 85! This is the right way to do things when building an estate but it's unusual in practise. Perhaps the Pilton Estate is following the Rugby model but it seems unlikely.
