What are these?
I received this along with some 'valve related bits' in a recent auction. Please can someone tell me what are they and what are they used for?
One is marked: ZC2616, X1356 and IQH/150. |

Re: What are these?
They are B3G valveholders for EA50 or 6D1 diodes.

Re: What are these?
They look like 3 pin valve holders, eg: EA50 and similar envelope construction types.
EDIT: Post crossed Lawrence. |

Re: What are these?
Blimey I was using one of those holders yesterday for an EA50 diode for an experiment.

Re: What are these?
10H/150 (rather than 1QH/150) will be a UK military stock code.

It is for "Holders, Valve, Type 40", and also includes the small clip to attach the lead to the other end of the EA50. These clips are much harder to find! Andy |

Re: What are these?
Still useful today as TO-220 case power devices can be plugged in for purposes of experiments. As a teen I built a superregen airband receiver using CV1197 (EC53) triodes that also plugged into these holders.

Re: What are these?
Some of the AVO valve testers have one of those on the top panel.
I'd have to rummage through my files to find out which ones. Craig

Re: What are these?
" Is there an online list of military stock codes somewhere? "
Just think of the size of that list! Assuming we are only talking of British numbers......... The list will cover Army, Admiralty and Air Ministry equipment, before Nato Stock numbers replaced individual service numbers. I have a particular interest in the Air Ministry Stores Reference system, covered by AP 1086. This encompasses literally anything and everything needed by the RAF! It was a 'living document', being regularly updated to add things newly introduced and delete things which had become obsolete, so any copy is but a snapshot in time. I don't know how many feet of shelf-space a full paper copy would need, but a lot! AP1086 is divided into Sections, for example Section 10H is entitled "Radio Connectors, Discs Indicating, Fuzes, Leads, Plugs & Sockets and Ancillary Parts, Holders and Terminals" There is no comprehensive online version that I am aware of. Certain Sections are available from various websites, for example in the VMARS archive. I have acquired various original Sections, and various photocopied Sections, as well as as many PDF files as possible. I am willing to help where I have information, but please don't ask for copies of whole Sections! Andy |
