Guess the parts!
We're doing some ground clearance near the workshop and, inevitably, some old bits of telly have emerged.
Starts easy, but then... 1. Make and model, please! 2. Yes, but what's the chassis? 3. This had me foxed. Not Thorn, maybe KB - what do you think? 4. Which chassis is this from? 5. Oh dear. Possibly from 3, possibly not. 6. Well, it's a LOPT... 6. Rust in peace. 7. Another view of 6. |

Re: Guess the parts!
3 is Philips "Style 70" The tuner could be from the same set as you say or Possibly from a Thorn 950/980/possibly early 1400? CTV1122 late A823 chassis? Not much idea on the mangled chassis but the yellow sleeve on the wiring suggests Philips... No idea of what set though!

Re: Guess the parts!
I'm useless, but I did work out that (3) was probably a Philips; the same grille perforation pattern was used on their audio gear too: https://www.radiomuseum.org/images/r...p_2703852.jpeg

Re: Guess the parts!
1/ Cant give a model number, but the early Toshiba/Bush Betamax, that had the large reel motor with the fan on the back of it, I think it was mains driven
2/ Bush 823A 3/ KB , I think. 4/ Looks familiar, Pye 205 Not a Scooby, with the rest. Ken G6HZG.

I attach a photo of what a new tuner looks like (as fitted in Pye 11U sets, so a coax socket for the UHF tuner's IF output instead of the B7G socket, but otherwise virtually identical). Last edited by dazzlevision; 3rd May 2022 at 7:13 pm. |

Re: Guess the parts!
The first part looks like the cassette compartment door of a Sony SL-C7.

Re: Guess the parts!
This is what the style 70 trim looks like when it's not mangled and corroded...

Re: Guess the parts!
Thanks for that! Just to confirm:
1 - Fivos is spot on - it's a Sony SLC7-UB 2. Dazzlevision is correct - A823AV (the later BEAB approved) 3. And again with the Style 70 - thanks for the nice picture Slidertogrid. 4. Not sure, but the Pye 205 is possible 5. I leave this to the better informed - I have no idea. 6. Ditto! 7 and 8 - could it be a KB VC series chassis? Luckily not much else is appearing out of the undergrowth. Still, you never know... |

Re: Guess the parts!
That tuner just needs a bit of cleaning fluid then it’s good to go
