Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
A friend had the same problem when he logged out and tried to log in again, he managed to get back in via e-mail about a bid placed earlier so it's not just me.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
I've won an item and paid for it. What happens next? I realise that I have to collect it from my nearest 'despatch station', but who contacts who etc? Thanks.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
In previous auctions I have emailed "the Auctioneer", AKA Mike Barker, letting him know where I'd like to collect my winnings and he would sort it out. Then email the relevant collection point person and arrange collection from there.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
Ok thanks. Will I get emailed or something? I've just looked at the auction site for next click ons, but nothing?

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
I'd use the "get in touch" button.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
Well yes I can do that but I guess dear old Mike Barker must be inundated with emails all asking different questions. I'd have thought that at this point (ie having paid for the item) there would be a pop up further information page advising of the collection points and an opportunity to 'tick' the one you want, also including with procedure advice, contact details etc. THEN get in touch with the person at that collection site to agree a collection time. As it is now I'm in a 'dead end' on the AirAuctioneer page - nowhere to go.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
Hopefully a committee member will be along soon to comment. I suspect the AirAuctioneer is a general purpose package, and to modify it to suit the peculiarities of the BVWS is not practicable. I have never had a problem with items I have won at previous auctions, and Mike has always been friendly and professional inspite of his high workload.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
AirAuctioneer is indeed a general online auction website system that the BVWS use for our auctions. It is just used for the bidding and payment stages of the process.
Now the auction is over, Mike will need to sort the sold lots by buyer and likely collection point, and will contact the winners in due course to confirm arrangements. He will then need to coordinate getting the items to the various collection points with the committee members offering them. It is likely that items for collection at Golborne next weekend will be sorted first due to the short timescale. Items for some other collection points may be passed onto relevant committee members attending there. Others will be arranged in due course, probably after Golborne. My Cardiff collection point is usually one of the last because there is normally only a small number of lots to come here. Once your items reach the relevant collection point the committee member who operates it will contact you to arrange collection. This all takes some time and is being done entirely by volunteers in their spare time (the collection points are committee members homes or storage units), so please be patient with us. You will get your items safely, but maybe not quickly. You could email Mike with your desired collection point (include details from the auction so he can easily identify your purchase) but do not expect a quick response because of the amount he needs to sort out. |

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
I would be very interested to know what the various lots sold for. Is this info available anywhere?
Steve.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
If you are a BVWS member with the auction login you can see the final prices on each lot now. The full results will also be added to the auction results on the BVWS website in due course.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
The Auction results are published but usually some time after the Auction.
The BVWS committee are all volunteers so they do have other things to do. When the results are published its here : https://www.bvws.org.uk/auctions/results.php Of course if your a BVWS member you can still log in to see the winning bids. Paul beat me to it Cheers Mike T

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
This post seems to have gone off topic, was the problem I was having logging on due to lack of capacity of the server the auctioneer was using, if so, I would hope the problem can be fixed for the next auction. I managed to connect and bid with the help of a friend sending me a link to an auction item, without this would have been unable to participate, even so managed to miss one item I wanted to bid on.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about issues with the third party auction website. The best thing is not to leave it until the last moment to bid, but to put your maximum bid in bit earlier.

Re: Is BVWS auction working for everybody?
Mike has sent me the online auction results. I will add them to the BVWS website tomorrow (along with December RWB).
As this thread has run it’s course now and has wandered off topic at times, I think this is a good point to close it. |
