Default Sharp VZ3500e Vertical player

hi everyone, I have a sharp vz3500e vertical record player, I have stripped it and serviced it and have brought it back from the dead but its still showing a slight problem and that is when a 12" record is put onto the unit and play is operated the record plays fine until about half way through then it goes slow and after a few seconds picks back up again and so on, it happens on both sides of the disc, if I put a 7" single on the deck it plays slow from the start of the record then occasionally picks back up to normal speed. Any idea's? could it be dirt somewhere on the mechanisum, turntable etc, I have installed 2 new turntable belts and 4 new cassette belts.
thanks
Trevor
