Decca Sound Compact 2 - No sound from LH speaker
I am been asked to look at Decca Sound Compact 2 stereo system for a family friend and don't know much about them. It has a couple of problems.
1. No sound from LH speaker. The speaker is good and works when plugged into RH output. The balance knob seems to do nothing, always gives sound from the RH speaker no matter where it is set. I have reflowed a few solder joints that looked a little dodgy. Not had an effect. 2. The record player does not turn. The stylus makes noises when turned on and the needle is touched. If anyone can tell me help or tell me where to get a service manual for this I would be grateful. Cheers |

Compact 2 is a generic name. Need model no. from the rear plate either an AT or DS followed by no. starting with a 5.

Hi
If it were me I would check the power transistors on the left hand channel and work back from there, it is possible for those matched pair on that side to have gone O/C Regards Ken |

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have managed to get sound from both speakers now. Blown fuse and dodgy balance control. Cheers |
