Default DDRC Radio Rally 23rd May

Stockwood Park Opening Times 23rd May 2010

Bootsale open to general public at 09:00

Entrance/Car park fee £2.00 per vehicle.

PLEASE CHECK THE MAP FOR YOUR VISITORS CAR PARK ENTRANCE

TRADERS from 07:30 - PLEASE CHECK THE MAP FOR TRADERS/SELLERS ENTRANCE

I will of course be there, and will have a stall - I look forward to meeting like minded indivdiuals on the day.

For those of you that have not attended this rally before - cancel all your other plans, and come to this event - there are usually 3-400 stalls selling all sorts of equipment, test gear, radios, components, amateur, and classic gear, valves, audio, and general tat!

There is loads of parking on site, and reasonable refreshments on sale throughout the day.

Arrive early to avoid dissapointment - the rally normally packs up around 1400 so please bear this in mind.

Cheers
Sean

It looks like I may be going if the weather is good. It is only 96 miles from Evesham so not too far.

Many thanks for advertising this event as I would not had known about it otherwise.

Slightly OT but what happened to the similar radio rally that was held at Draton Manor Park? I think it was run by the MARS radio club.

Well worth a visit even from Rotherham! So I should be there.

Drayton Manor was really good but is no more. I do believe it was replaced by a rally within a school in Brirmingham.

Sadly Elvaston Castle is also gone.

That one ended about 5 or 6 years ago and stopped, I think, because of the cost of insurance. The Elvaston Casle rally went the same way a couple of years ago. Big shame, as they were both good rallies.

Back, burnt, and a nearly empty vehicle - Good times!

Saw a fair number of forum members today, and there was plenty on offer for those brave enough to endure the heat!

Didn't buy anything really - was more of a clearing out exercise.

So, what did everyone else find?

Cheers
Sean

Too hot man.
Like you, had a good clear out. Bought a few transformers and HV caps, that's about all.
Good to see you, Chris, the other Chris, Steve and Richard.

Hello there,
Nice to see a few forum members there today.
I bought a very nice Marconi Instruments digital signal generator 2018A that goes between 80Khz and 520Mhz!, A load of HV electrolytics for telly restoration, several miles of tinned copper wire, plus a fair few telly valves and a digital timer with nixie tubes in it. I was given an interesting power output meter from Sean, so thanks again!

I enjoyed the day but was suprised that people atarted packing up fairly early in the afternoon.
I was relieved that there was not too much obsolete IT equipment on the stalls which did concern me as I had not been to this event before and I diddnt want a wasted journey. instead there were lots of stalls selling useful things at sensible prices and I did buy more useful components than the NVCF. and at £2 entry far cheaper than the early entry at the NVCF.
It was quite a long way for me (180 miles round trip) but I think it was worth it. I will (weather permitting) be there next year

It was very hot today at the DDRC. Last year it poured with rain. I think I preferred the rain !

Saw lots of forum members bought a few bits and a couple of sets including a mint EAR Tourist transistor radio (another Perdio Fanfare clone) and a grubby 1947 GEC BC4835R compact valve set which will be used to complete the restoration of the set below which is currently in theatre.
