Thank you very much to Vinrads who very kindly posted me a 220uH inductor that arrived this morning. I soldered it in this evening and the set immediately sprang into life on MW. A bit of tweaking of the slug in the inductor and it’s reasonably sensitive across the MW band. I’ve started to strip the cabinet to french polish it and make it all looking smart again. A 1948 radio brought back to life which always feels good. Even the magic eye isn’t totally dim. My thanks again to Vinrads.

Now if anyone’s got a spare glass for a Etronic RA640 I’d be very interested.

Hi John well done fitting the coil , I did have a dial but someone needed one on the forum , how bad is yours , I was thinking he may still have the old one , condition unknown, I need to see if I can find out the person that I gave it to . Mick.

Thanks Mick, the glass isn’t broken but it’s missing the printing/lettering across one quarter of it.

Its the same circuit from R&TVS, with the same errors.

I think it was me that got your glass for the RA640, Sadly the old one had all but the top left corner print missing over 80% clear glass!

I seem to recall that i found or was sent a picture of the glass and until i got the newer one i was going to print a copy on over head projection plastic to use.

But i can''t seem to find the picture either - all in all a pretty bad day really!

No worries. Most of my printing is there. It’s my fault. I’d no idea spray foam cleaner was going to clean the lettering off! Fortunately I only cleaned a little bit.
