Default 'Digital' clock repair

I wonder if anyone here has the necessary skills to get this electro-mechanical digital clock running? It's essentially a basic clockwork mechanism with a battery powering a motor every minute to advance the drum. Applying a battery just causes a slight twitch to the mechanism and nothing more. There's no obvious damage to it apart from the fact that the battery in it leaked inside the cabinet and the battery connectors are missing (it used to take an HP2 type)

We had one of these on our mantlepiece at home when I was growing up in the 70s and it was quite a talking point then, so I was really pleased to find this identical example a few years ago, but alas not working!

Obviously all costs etc met if you can assist.

Thank you.
