Panasonic NV G202 Zoom repair - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

It's a long shot, but I'm looking for someone familiar with old VHS-C video cameras. To take a look at my poorly G202.

The zoom has developed a tendency to stick and I don't know if the motor is dying or if it just needs a good service and lubricant.

I have the service manual, but honestly would rather defer this to someone with previous experience. Yes I know it's an old camera and why the heck would I want to repair that old pile of c%#p. But the fact is, it's important to me, used to be my fathers. When I'm use it (which I do), can't help thinking about him. So it would mean a lot to get it working properly again.

I have been waiting to see if someone on these forums would repair this camera for you, but alas it appears not. I used to service them years ago, but don't have the required jigs to work on them anymore.

It would be worth contacting Webster Technical Services in Norwich and speaking to Chris. They still have fully qualified AV engineers who used to repair camcorders as part of their regular offering, and still repair 80's kit. They may well be prepared to service your camera. https://www.webster-tech.co.uk/
