Bit scary looking on page 66 where in figure 18a it shows the eht supplies for both the transmitting and receiving tubes being at 100,000 volts. This supply is shown as being derived from dry cells. I suppose that at that time supplies for cathode ray devices were still under development. Fascinating document however, it is good that it is available on the web for everyone to view.

They had the the CRT in 1900 but short lived till about 1930 just time for Radar

Interesting reading, and I learnt something new.

Baird was not only instrumental in developing TV, he invented the video recorder as well !.

At some point (on a telly programme!) i saw what was clearly a very early video recording. It was recorded on an old type shellac disc which dated from late 1800's or early 1900's and was a view of the central London skyline, viewed from somewhere high up. It was monochrome of course, but in black and orange.

From what I reading in past was the camera was biggest problem.
If CRT was better it could used for better viewing.

It was short lived technology because crash of 29. .

The mechanic Television would be a fun project.


Today we have phototransistor and could use 30 to 60 phototransistor on a rotating disk giving far better images. Then using 30 to 60 LEDS on rotating disk for display.

Back in 1920s they used a rotating disk and carbon lap for camera and photo cells was where light would have been. In time they would used rotating photo cell that would vastly improved the camera. In the 1930s they still doing trial and error development.
They could use a rotating disk using photo cell tubes or maybe someone did and I have not rear About. With tech it could been about 100 lines the disk would been over 6 foot [2 meters] in diameter. Giving far better image withe today's phototransistor about a 8" [200mm] diameter

The pdf drawing is a simple 6 line just go give a idea how works left side of drawing .

The right side show a basic hos camera would would work using camera lenses. Did not show the ground Glass for viewing.

FYI I have found a photo from 1930s showing a camera like this and still trying find more details.
