Default AVO model 8 Mk3 loose glass

Before I embark on any surgery I thought it wise to seek advice.
This AVO model8 Mk3 seems to work well but the glass is loose.
I have read the pdf called AVOMETER SERVICING INFORMATION and I've made a cardboard spacer shroud to fit around the movement whilst it is unscrewed but before I commence I have some questions...
1) How is the glass retained?
2)How is the glass sealed against the case?
3)If the glass should be bonded in place with adhesive, what is recommended? Is EVO-Stick taboo?
3)Are there any removal and refitting precautions for the movement?

Chris,

I don't want to be unhelpful or discouraging, especially to an experienced forum contributor, but all your questions have been answered many times, often with considerable discussion.

You should be able to find the guidance you want from these previous threads. Please have a look and come back if you don't find all you need.

There's a thread here - https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ht=meter+glass about loose meter glass & one here about the movement - https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...t=80595&page=3

Fixing panel meters can be a nightmare, the movements are so easily damaged, just take your time & make sure you have a safe space to store the movement while you work on the glass.

I've used petrol to re-activate glue on some meters, but it depends on the glue. Good luck, Andy.

Black sealant used by the factory to affix the glass is soluble in wd40 if you wish to remove final traces left behind, just about the only place in an avo where wd40 can be used- albeit carefully to avoid contaminating anything else.
