Default Telford Electronics – anything known?

Does anybody know if Telford Electronics, @ Old Officers Mess at Horton are still in business?

I have asked them about a Hatfield 1000 Psophometer Manual which their website shows they list, but I have had absolutely no response whatsoever to my emails to them!

Is there any Member who lives in that area who can go and take a discreet look and see if there is still any signs of business activity, e.g., lights on or parked cars there?

If there is signs that suggests they're still in business, I'll send them a postal enquiry about the Manual I would like!

Chris Williams

PS!

With one exception, I have had no complaint whatsoever about the Manuals I have obtained from Marc Christian in the past!

PPS!

Further to the above, ringing the number on their website just produces complete silence followed by those three beeps meaning an erroneous or no longer in service number, so I fear they're gone, along with thousands of manuals I know of no other source for! If anyone knows otherwise, please post!

Mods, please delete if unacceptable my posting of thisthis.
I last met Marc Christian, proprietor of Telford Electronics nearly 30 years ago. Vague recollection of what he looked like back then.
I found this:

Certainly seems a similarity in appearance of as I remember him, and location is right.

Sad indeed, he will be missed.
I've bought several manuals from Telford Electronics over the years. They also used to sell equipment & manuals at the various amateur radio rallies, & I often used to 'stock up' with bits of test gear from their stall.

There are very few companies left like Marc's now.

This has come up a few times in the wanted section, I've mentioned a few times, but the information has gone, due to the auto delete (after several months) in that section.

While the Telford Electronics website hasn't been updated (probably can't access the server to update), the ebay store fred-bloggs (aka Telford) went down, but reappeared, the listing pictures give a new phone number & email, oddly they haven't changed/updated the "about" page with these details.

One of the listings with new contact details in the picture.

About page that hasn't been updated.

I've not tried contacting via the new details, would be interesting to know if anyone has done.

A sad end. There's quite a bit of useful information on the web site (frequencies and power for a lot of the equipment listed). I've scheduled the whole site (a little under 2000 pages) for archival - it should appear on web.archive.org in a couple of weeks or so.

I do hope some of the more obscure / "unobtainium" manuals can be rescued. But I know it's probably the last thing that executors want to deal with (or, as is most likely in this case, have already dealt with). It reminds me a bit of when a test-equipment manuals reseller in the US was closing and volunteers managed to save around 15,000 unique manuals. (Some already online, e.g. here and here, others are still in storage before they are selected for digitization).

That's always an issue... I remember just how long it took the VMARS people to clear a vast slew of containers of old military gear from a site in Coventry when its owner went QRT. They didn't have executors pressing for the site to be cleared...

How sad. I visited Mark several times, and took a whole bunch of Tektronix 7000 gear, sampling plugins etc from him. He was trying to get rid, so I got a great bargain.

And later the odd manual for obscure stuff I've ill advisedly bought.

He was always a much faster runner than I - not that I ever ran with him, but his personal bests were always significantly better than mine when we traded running stories.

. . .I did, after his ebay listings came up again to enquire about a Hatfield 1000 Manual and got no reply from the eBay Message system either, so unless anyone can confirm they've received anything from the listings currently live, about 25 manuals and about 12–15 model toy vehicles, I reckon we've had it, until a Member can confirm somebody is still dealing with these listings!
