It did arrive, but I've left the 6845 right now as it's happy.
I have just bought that lot I mentioned a couple of weeks back - 8032, 3040 disk drive, 8026 printer and the 3022 printer so I suspect the soldering iron will be powered on soon.... Colin. Quote:

Did you actually pick up those items, then? I guessed one of your relations down Lincolnshire way was probably going to be the middleman, and you'd go and get them the next time you were due to see them anyway.
One thing I would suggest is a visual inspection of all mains-side wiring in plugs, sockets and mains wiring inside the units before you ever turn them on, because there have been at least two examples of potentially deadly mains 'wiring' in units that you have already repaired. |

I don't have them yet but they are with my sister at the moment.
I certainly won't be plugging anything straight in and turning it on this time. I am hopefully going to pick the items up somewhere mid-way in a week or two. The previous owner was a TV repair man - I have pointed him at these forums in case he is interest. Colin. Quote:

Well, if the collection belonged to someone who was intrinsically machine-sympathetic (someone who wouldn't store them underwater or leave bare mains wires dangling inside) that gives me some hope that they might not be too bad. They may even work! We look forward to the up-coming thread about those.

It looks like Colin's PET computer & Peripheral collection is rather out-doing the Cambridge CfCH!
- At least what they have on display, in their typical company office with some Business (USA) computers (before IBM/Compatibles PC's). Although, no doubt they've got many more in storage that they haven't got a space to display at present, but might bring-out in the central area of the main hall - swapping-out with others on display - at any future Commodore-themed event (like with recent Japanese systems one) they might do (They have had Acorn & Sinclair themed weekends, a few years ago). Anyway, if Colin / others haven't been there yet, then I thought the attached pictures of their setup (+video of PET running demo prog.) may be of interest. |
