Default Alba identification

Hi, i am repairing an Alba record player and i need to know the model number, if anyone recognises it ( see pics ).

It was working for a short while but has been stored somewhere damp it looks like. I serviced the deck and connected the amp back up ( photos taken and all connections noted ). It played for a while then the motor windings started to smoke - just what i needed !!

It's a UA15/16 type deck but its not got the usual 90 volt feed off the motor as its transistorised and has a 28-30 volt A.C. winding on the motor for the transistorised amp. Its a great sound when running so does anyone have service info or a motor for it?

Regards Tony.

Disconnect the wire from the motor to the amp and see if the motor still gets hot. That will tell if it's the motor or the amp. The motor shouldn't smoke unless there are shorted turns.

Its the mains 240 volt winding that has gone up in smoke - the 28-30 volt winding that feeds the amp is ok - i have plenty 240 volt motors with 90 volts out but this is a one off and has a 28-30 volt winding - amp is ok have checked it on a seperate 30 volt power supply that i have .

You could use one of the motors with the 90v tap leaving the tap disconnected and a separate transformer to supply the amplifier.

I had the same thing happen years ago.

That was my next train of thought - powering it off a Bush SRP 41 PSU transformer but i found a motor in my scrap pile and serviced the motor - it has the winding on that i needed - fitted it and it works a dream - success at last !! Cartridge was also intermittent so i replaced that too !!
