Not sure if these are the slightest use to anyone, i collected them from the works skip many years back, very small micro mv format tapes, sometimes dubbed the format from hell as they were short lived with not much support, anyway, for the moment I'm offering just the one with as many accessories as i can find which may or may not include the battery, just a nice collectable item and the ultimate iteration of subminiature electromechanics, it's free apart from the postage.
Greg.

Ok mods, this thread can be closed, looks like they're off to the skip or back to the cupboard for another hundred years.

If you're going to skip them, I'd be interested in one. I sometimes get asked by friends / family to transfer old tapes for them (including camcorder ones like VHS-C and miniDV). I haven't yet been asked to transfer a Micro MV tape, but it would be useful to have the ability if I ever needed it.
I didn't reply before because I thought someone who would actually use it as a camera (rather than just for playing back tapes) would be interested. But I guess no one is! I completely understand if you'd prefer this to go to someone who will actually use it as a camera, but if you're just going to skip it I could find a use for it. |

If you decide to offer the second one, I’d like to give it a home!
I’m surprised at so few responses! Regards Lloyd |

I'm happy to defer to Lloyd if it will get some actual use (as opposed to being used occasionally to play back tapes). Or perhaps one of them has a broken CCD / fogged lens / etc... that would lend itself more to being used just to playback tapes.

Hi andrew and Lloyd, there's plenty for everyone!, just pm me with your addresses and I'll get them off, i only collected them in the first place because i thought they might be sought after at some time and it seemed a shame to see virtually new kit get crushed, I'll see if there's some batteries that still work as well.
Greg.

PM sent
![]() I can remember when these camera's came out, I thought they looked interesting back then, but they were way out of my price range! I think I was either still at college, or had been in work for a short time, and was using a Samsung Hi8 camcorder, which I still have, and it still works! Regards, Lloyd |

The Wikipedia article on MicroMV [1] states that the last MicroMV camcorder was sold by Sony in 2006. Looking at the Sony consumer AV catalogues available on HiFi Engine [2], there are miniDV camcorders listed in the 2009 edition, but not 2010. So it's clear that miniDV outlasted MicroMV, but I'd be curious to know the exact dates as to when Sony stopped selling miniDV camcorders. Anyone have more info? There was also HDV which records 1080i onto a miniDV cassette, not sure when that ceased? I got hold of a Sony HVR-Z1E semi-pro cam a couple of years back, fantastic picture quality, probably not as good as some of todays offerings, but still a very good format.

No problem, I'll dig one out, only thing is I'm out of good batteries, but i do have some that may react to very gentle reactivation, just give me a few days, this stuff is scattered all over the place. Greg.

Looking good folks, I have nearly all the accessories supplied apart from one battery and the duo adaptors, I'll pm all three of you when I've got them packed.
Greg.

I did consider second hand MicroMV some years ago. I decided as it was a single manufacturer that it might be short lived even if the format was superior, so got a couple of extra miniDV ones (so I can filem from three places for editing purposes). I guess digital devices have done for tape these days.

Hi Duncan
Yes indeed, at the time memory was starting to get a bit cheaper which made solid state recording viable, plus it was non standard in any case, a brave effort on Sony's part but definitely their video 2000 moment!. Greg.

Camera arrived today - huge, huge thanks Greg for sending it along. And including all the accessories, down to the promotional card attached to the camera - it's like Christmas come early!
I certainly know what I'll be doing over the weekend! ![]() |

Hi andrew
Great to hear, just got the other two to do, been too busy this week with the wife's health and other tasks, they really are great little cams but just missed the boat technology wise. Greg.
