My thought was get advice from an expert in ordanance. if it is a detonator it might still be live.

It does look like ordnance to me, a nose fuze. The fine thread is a giveaway, and all this type of thing had a date stamped into it for traceability. Where did it come from?
Corrosion suggests it was removed from its housing a long time ago....dropping it is not an option- best place for him in the short term is in a stout box with bubble wrap. Dave Last edited by The Philpott; 9th May 2023 at 12:30 pm. |

Definitely a WW1 shell fuze similar to this:-
