Well done! Had a Grundig portable like this recently, IF transformer behaved like that. Luckily I had a close replacement lying about, but it drove me round in circles.

I have exactly the same fault but it came on suddenly after the set was left on for a prolonged period. FM reception is now + or - 150kHz either side the proper frequency. Where do I get a replacement L15 from? Are they fairly standard?

I used an if transformer from a scrap radio .
Needs to be a transistor radio with subminiature if transformers .
If you keep an eye on ebay for small non working 1960/1970s radios
With any luck there will be a pic of the components so you should be able to judge if it will fit your radio .They are less common than the standard if transformers
Cheers
Pete

Sorry forgot to say check r60 and c60 first which are across the coil
Your new transformer might well have its tuning cap inside the can so you will have to disconnect c 60

Thanks for that thought. I've probably binned a few old transistors in the past with sub miniature IFT's.
In this case it was the sudden shift, and not gradual drift in frequency, that is making me think of component failure.
Thanks,
Tim

Hello everyone, i see many knowledgeable people on this forum so please allow me to post a question relevant to this topic:
My Pro80 stops at the correct frequency during FM scanning, however i always need to add +50kHz to have undistorted audio.
Is this something fixable, or do i need to live with it?
I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks
Nick

Hello Daghtor,
You can find its service manual here if you dont have it:

Given the complexity of this receiver, I would not attempt to correct this.
