Is this stuff likely to be in great demand?

I'm not intending to bid on anything!

Most of the professional stuff will be bought by dealers.

There's certainly some odd stuff there - why would a broadcasting centre have 20 domestic clock radios?

Looks like the combination of Buyer's Premium plus VAT will add 38.6% to the hammer prices. Plus another 2% for payment by cash or credit card...

I don't understand why just relocating to a new building so much is being sold.
Only phase 1 of the sale as well.

It's a bit like my own process recently while relocating my business to a new workshop - all that retired equipment and "might come in" stuff really is redundant so might as well go.

In short, it's obsolete old crap that has no place in a brand new broadcast centre! It'll be hard enough to get everything working in the new place without the uncertainty that old, hammered gear - even if it was compatible - would bring. A small number of items will be useful to other parts of the BBC - especially Archives - and there's even something heading my way as we speak, but looking at the listings, I feel no urge to bid on anything there.

While I don't know for sure, I suspect those clock radios were quiz prizes. These might have been left over from a change of programme or presenter, or perhaps the quiz was dropped when the rules around quizzes were tightened up a few years back...

There's a few LS3/5a loudspeaker pairs that are making quite serious money.......

Audio gear usually sells; hopefully it covers the cost of disposing of all those Betacam VT machines and SD CRT monitors
