No, but people get up to the strangest things in private and between consenting adults. After all, we are both known for playing with old TVs I have heard that there are weird folk who might misunderstand that remark

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
I'll be there, on loading door duty during the set-up too.
I'm staying in a nearby B&B on Saturday night, at a cheaper rate because I'm leaving too early for breakfast. I have nothing to bring or collect, and I'm not planning to buy anything either though I probably will! |

On call all weekend, so sadly won't make this one.....
On the plus side however this means I will have a better bank balance!

They must think we're mad and they're probably right. It must be down to humping all that heavy kit around - I've just loaded the car ready for departure tomorrow and an overnight stay at the Coventry Binfield Travelodge. On the day I'll be stewarding from about 0600 at one of the doors. Then the B&B from about 0900. Look forward to seeing you all there. |

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
A quick thank you to all those involved in the organisation and running of today's successful event. I managed to re-home most of what I put on the stall, and bought very little apart from a few 1930s Wireless Worlds to fill gaps in my collection (1938 complete at last!). A very enjoyable day, thanks all!

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
Again thanks to all involved in making it such a pleasureable day. I came in early at nine and didn't leave till about 2, just don't know where the time went!
Came away with a late 50's Stella 17" TV (same chassis as the Philips 17TG100U that I grew up with) and a very scruffy early Rega Planar 2 turntable. And loads of spares including a couple of bits of shiny rock for my BTH Type C twin crystal set. And always nice to stop and chat with likeminded pals! Greg

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
A grand day out as usual and lots of forum people to chat to. I hope Jeffrey and the other helpers on the Bring & Buy survived the minor scrum following a tannoy announcement late in the day that anything remaining on the stall was available free of charge (or as good as).
Did that interesting 19" Pye dual standard colour set with the broken CRT find a home with a forum member? A big thumbs-up to the organisers and behind-the-scenes bods who ensure these events run so successfully. Long may they continue. Cheers Steve J |

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
As an assistant on the day I was very pleased with how it all went too.
Setting up from my door (A1) was very smooth with everyone getting on with what they needed to do in a calm and polite manner. Clearly a lot of the stallholders are regulars so know how it runs, which is a great help to us. Again selling wristbands to visitors waiting in the queue helped to get people in quicker and reduces the stress at 10:30am. I don't know how the figures compared but the hall certainly felt busier to me, especially on early entry. There seemed to be a good atmosphere in the hall too, probably helped by the weather being almost ideal (no rain but not too sunny so the hall doesn't get too warm). I didn't buy much, in part because of an ongoing house move. I did buy a Philips digital photo frame for £10 in full working order with box, and a TV aerial booster/splitter for £5 which I may need in my new home. |

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
It was an excellent day and I enjoyed it very much. I didn't buy all that much (a Philips brochure, a small Philips tape recorder and a dozen-or-so TV valves) but I did meet lots of pals who I hadn't seen for ages and delivered a lopty to Mike B. to have a look at and hopefully rewind. Also collected an air conditioner and some Rank TV bits-and-pieces from 2 Neils. Thanks Neils.
Thanks to everyone who had a hand in organising it - It was fantastic. Kind regards. From Mike.

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
yes a very good well organised event, as usual. you chaps should be proud of yourselves. myself for once went down with a car with the back bumper scraping on the ground and came home much lighter bar the boat anchor of a Betamax that came via Jeffrey from the radio museum (needs a little fettling to the belts but works) and some caps from Sound man, the only things i bought inside where two used but tested UL84's at £1 each and a length of two core cotton covered flex. met up with some old faces which is worth the trip in it's self.

Re: NVCF May 15th 2011
Another grand day out managing to transfer all the stuff I brought down within an hour of arriving leaving the rest of the time to look round. Didn't buy much, a few Practical televisions, valves and knobs for a Vidor portable but at the last minute succumbed to another Vidor portable but managed to sneak in home without too much trouble......yet.
