JJ500 Sony
I'm resurrecting this gramophone with tuner & cassette which has been in a box for years. It is near mint visually and has an excellent quality feel in the materials of its construction. It has fairly good original speakers too. Just couldn't let it go to landfill.
The turntable belt had decayed to a rigid & brittle pile of short grey sticks, but it is easy to obtain on ebay. The tape capstan flat belt had become a blob of black goo, is hard to identify on the internet as an available part number however, and had no remaining features for guessing at dimensions. A part number might be helpful if this tape deck is shared with hifi separates, and belt dimensions too. Does anyone know what other models also use it? It does have a very good build quality feel in the transport. There are 9 little indicator lamps (about 12v measured) in white plastic holders on a pcb in the front panel. I think 4 or 5 are dead and space is tight. I don't have replacements of the correct voltage so will likely put in some leds with series resistors or another solution. Any other owners with knowledge or experiences of warnings? Advice welcome. |

If you search this site there has been one other thread regarding this Sony?
