Default Hitachi VT7 can't get at the belts

I've got a Hitachi VT7 portable VHS deck and I can't work out how to get to the belts on the underside to change them. I assume the boards hinge back as in most of these types of video but I can't work out how to do it.

I've got the casing off and I've unclipped all the clips i can see, two on the front board, two on the right side (deck upside down, front facing me), one on the left side (side with camera socket) and two on the bottom. It frees the boards up a bit but they still only lift about an inch or so at the front and it seems to be joined somewhere towards the back on the camera connector side but I can't work out where or how. Also I can't see (if it does hinge back) how the board and the back moves, if it does.

I might be going about it in completely the wrong way, I am just going off how you open up the VT6500 though it does look more or less similar.
The pictures show where the clips are that I unclipped and some more views of the deck.Is there anyone who has worked on one of these and can remember? Or better yet has a link to the service manual? Thanks.

Hi. I have a Hitachi VT-8 (same as VT-7 but with 5 heads) and I have replaced the belts on it. You need to unplug and remove the front panel PCB and the servo board which is on the left side. Then, you lift the bottom PCB up to get to the bottom of the mechanism.

As in completely disconnect them from the machine?

Yes. Each board interfaces with unpluggable connectors.

I've got the boards off and got to the belts. It was as you described. Thanks Fivos. Just need to find some belts now. I think I've got some in my stash that might fit it, if not then maybe Donberg. Also spotted a crack in the front control board which will need repairing. I think it's been dropped at some point as there is also a crack in plastic casing that has been glued back together.

Here's a complete belt and ilder kit for these machines:
http://www.telespares.com.au/index.p...ucts_id=317355

Keep in mind this store is based in Australia so I don't know about the shipping costs.

And from Donberg:

The Australian site are apparently not accepting payments from my region so it looks like it will have to be Donberg. Quite annoying because they had some other parts for things I've been after for a while.

Donberg's website uses an ".ie" domain so it should be located in Ireland, which is closer to you!

Yeah they're in Ireland, I've had few things off them. I've ordered the belt kit.
