Hi,
I bought and read his book: 'Obsession', it's a very interesting read and his early life echoes mine to an certain extent (but without the 'criminal' element or the fame!) Long may his legacy continue!
Cheers, Pete.

Thanks for the 'heads up' and the link. I do hope the rest of the news in The Telegraph is more promptly reported though.

Isn't that nice? Short and to the point, but it manages also to be fond and affectionate. Well done the writer.

It is worth watching 'Valveman', a film about Gerry's life.

There was a Home Office film that was based on Gerry. The famous "somewhere" I used to have it.

Yes, a very good write up by The Telegraph though I never knew he had a daughter.

I have just read his obituary in the Telegraph, short to the point but a very good read. I had the pleasure of meeting the man once at the farewell 625 party just before the Crystal Palace/Croydon DSO. I will always remember and treasure that day.

Gerry's case history was used in the Crown Film Unit "Children on Trial".

The telegraph refer to Gerry's Daughter. This is incorrect.
Although Eileen was fondly looked upon as a Daughter by Gerry, she is not his biological next of kin.
However he could not have had a better or more caring person for a Daughter as Eileen was everything to Gerry.

Or you could buy the DVD from the BVWS, with all profits going to the museum.

Thank You Mike for putting me correct re Gerrys "daughter". I have the Valveman DVD and it is well worth owning.

I wonder if the various tapes I bought off Gerry over the years will surface and help funding? Sure a lot of folks would enjoy as I did and if on DVD there should be some demand.

Likewise, thank you, Mike, for confirming what I thought was the case.
